Road trip--to Bamfield (part 3)

Once in Vancouver we got the ferry from Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay. I first did this ferry trip in 1995 and saw dolphins surfing the bow wave. Unfortunately there was no wildlife this time, but lots of beautiful scenery.

It takes about an hour and a half and is a really beautiful trip. Once in Swartz Bay it's about a half hour drive into Victoria where we decided to spend two nights so the family could explore the city.

The inner harbor is really lovely. Here is British Columbia's parliament building and a very large totem.

The Empress Hotel, one of the Canadian Pacific line is a Canadian landmark and historic site.
We wandered through the tea room :)
 We went to the...
which my son loved.

And then we wandered around the James Bay area and I took lots of photographs of people's homes for my WIP (apologies peeps).
Including Emily Carr's House...
The next day we headed north on the 5 hour trip to Bamfield via Walmart and the Safeway's in Port Alberni for groceries. We were packed up, food in every nook and cranny as we started the final leg of our epic 5 day journey and followed the mile markers (yes, they are kilometers but) along 75 km of dirt logging road to Bamfield.

Until we reached our destination.
And next week we go all the way back...
